From the Red Sea and the White Desert (Sahara) come white coral and black fossils from an ancient ocean floor.
How is it that I spend so much effort writing around the concept of 180° and all the while I have been constructing images of 360° rotations? The movement of turning, twisting, and rotating is intrinsic. These recent samples depict some less formal explorations with circles, ranging from pouring sand and dripping water, exposing sheets of solar paper, and picking objects from nature that express cycling, circling, rotating and centering. Over the course of a week in Greece at the Iris Art Centre, I spent some dedicated time scratching and unpicking the circular forms that have been emerging in my work for over 4 years now.
